Lens Holiday Hackathon

The days between Christmas and New Years are quiet, peaceful… boring. Not this year, though. Join us for the Lens Holiday Hackathon: build on the Lens Network and Family’s Connect Kit and win cash prizes. The Lens Holiday Hackathon will be judged by the Lens community and the Avara team via Jokerace: the contest protocol for communities to run, grow, and monetise by deploying a contest on any EVM chain. Contests enable communities to submit and vote on entries and winners to earn reputation and rewards.

Hackathon kicks off:  December 16th at 4pm CET.

Hacking ends: January 7th, 2025 at 4pm CET.

Voting / Judging period: January 7th, 4pm CET to January 12th, 4pm CET.

Tracks + Themes

Lens network is a high performance chain, built for SocialFi use cases, currently on testnet. For this holiday hackathon, Lens are inviting all developers to hack on the network.

Any application deployed to Lens Network Testnet and using Family’s Connect Kit when possible. Potential ideas include:

• Social/SocialFi apps.
• Meme-adjacent.
• Public Goods.
• Games.
• AI agents and related products.

Prizes

1st prize: 20,000 GHO

2nd prize: 10,000 GHO

3rd prize: 5,000 GHO

Honorary mentions (x5): 3,000 GHO

Rules

1. Build on Lens Network Testnet, use ConnectKit where applicable. Get $GRASS Testnet Tokens here.
2. For troubleshooting, write to us on Telegram.
3. The maximum number of hackers per team is 4.
4. Submissions should be open source and built using the Lens network on Testnet. Code must be new, starting on December 16th, 2024 at 4pm CET. Any other submissions will not be considered.
5. Submissions with commits after the deadline of January 7th, 2025 at 4pm CET will be disqualified.
6. Teams must submit their projects for review via:
   1. Lens’ Github Hackathon Repo, follow instructions in README to submit.
   2. Jokerace Entry. Submissions that are not in Jokerace won’t be able to be voted, therefore disqualified.
7. Final submission must include:
   1. Clear and concise README.
   2. Prototype app.
   3. Demo video / slide deck (you are welcomed to anonymize your voice / be camera off).
8. Who can join the hackathon: Please refer to our Hackathon Terms And Conditions to make sure you can participate.

Jokerace Voting

1. The Lens community and the Avara team will be selecting the winners.

2. Community members and the Avara team will be allowlisted to vote, in order to make sure there will be no sybil or any irregularities.

3. You must enter your Lens hackathon submission on Jokerace to get voted.

   Make sure to include:

   1. A friendly intro - say who you are, what you are up to, and what was your motivation to build your project!
   2. The link to your Github Submission.
   3. Include pictures/screenshots if you like! make it visual!

4. You are encouraged to “campaign” for your project both on Lens or X, where our community will be following. Use the hashtag #LensHolidayHackathon on X, or the club HolidayHackathon on Orb (download Orb and get a Lens profile for free).

5. Voting / Judging period: January 8th, 4pm CET to January 12th, 4pm CET.

Troubleshooting

1. You can ask the community and the Lens devs questions by writing on our Telegram.
2. Ask in public, in the Hackathons channel. Neither devs nor the community will answer via DM.
3. Share what you’re building with others. Building the same thing as another team? Merge teams! Anything goes as long as what you build is amazing.
4. Be kind, respectful and patient. Some days might be slower on responses than others, as we are also on a holiday week.

Important

1. Prizes will be distributed after January 16th, 2025.
2. All winners must be KYCd. Someone from Lens will reach out to you via e-mail to walk you through the process.

A failed KYC will unfortunately mean you won’t be able to receive the prize. In order to avoid this, please make sure to read the hackathon Terms and Service.
